Windsor's housing is more varied than the postcard suggests. Behind the castle and the cobbles of the old centre are streets of Victorian terraces around Vansittart Road and Clewer, considerably more ordinary and considerably easier to deliver to. Dedworth is post-war family housing, and across the bridge Eton is a single remarkable street with cottages and colleges behind it.
That fixed Wednesday is the whole reason this costs £10 a week rather than £30. We are not making a special trip to Windsor, we are already there, so you get the van at route cost instead of one-off cost. Pick whichever Wednesday suits you when you book.
Eton, Old Windsor and Dedworth are all SL4, all on the same Wednesday run, all the same price as Windsor itself.
In the terraces the fronts open close to the pavement and parking is permit-controlled, so a note about where a van can legally stand for forty minutes genuinely helps. The cobbled lanes right under the castle are carry-territory, we park as close as the traffic order allows and walk the piano the last stretch on the trolley. Dedworth and the newer streets are straightforward. Riverside apartments: check the lift depth, it decides the stair charge.
Stairs are £99 per floor, and that covers carrying it up now and back down at the end. A lift only removes the charge if it is about 1.2 metres deep, because the piano travels standing on its end.
