Swindon is really several towns, and they behave differently with a piano. The GWR Railway Village cottages are compact and tight-halled, Old Town up the hill is Victorian with proper front rooms, and then there is the Swindon most people live in: West Swindon, Haydon Wick, Priory Vale, St Andrews and Stratton, modern estates where an upright rolls in on the flat without drama.
That fixed Saturday is the whole reason this costs £10 a week rather than £30. We are not making a special trip to Swindon, we are already there, so you get the van at route cost instead of one-off cost. Pick whichever Saturday suits you when you book.
Royal Wootton Bassett and Wroughton come under SN4, Purton under SN5, and Highworth under SN6, and the whole SN area is our same Saturday run at the same price.
On the northern and western estates it is almost always the plain delivery price. Old Town has more variety, bay-fronted Victorians with a step or two up and the occasional tight turn by the stairs, worth a line in the notes but rarely a problem. The Railway Village is the one place we plan properly, because the cottages are small and the doors are original. If you are in a newer flat near the centre, check the lift depth, 1.2 metres is the magic number.
Stairs are £99 per floor, and that covers carrying it up now and back down at the end. A lift only removes the charge if it is about 1.2 metres deep, because the piano travels standing on its end.
