St Albans is a city of Victorian and Edwardian terraces, Fleetville and the streets around Clarence Park especially, and they are exactly the houses upright pianos were built for. Most have a front room with a chimney breast and an alcove waiting. The medieval streets around Fishpool Street and George Street are another matter, gorgeous, listed and occasionally reluctant, and Marshalswick brings the wide-halled thirties semis.
That fixed Wednesday is the whole reason this costs £10 a week rather than £30. We are not making a special trip to St Albans, we are already there, so you get the van at route cost instead of one-off cost. Pick whichever Wednesday suits you when you book.
AL1 through AL4 covers London Colney, Bricket Wood, Chiswell Green, Redbourn, Wheathampstead, Sandridge and Marshalswick, and the whole lot is one Wednesday run at one price.
Terrace deliveries here are usually the plain price, with the note-worthy details being permit parking and any step at the door. In the conservation area around the Cathedral and Fishpool Street we plan each one individually, old doors and turning halls, all manageable with warning. London Colney, Chiswell Green and Bricket Wood in AL2 are largely modern and simple, and the AL3 and AL4 villages are classic Hertfordshire mix.
Stairs are £99 per floor, and that covers carrying it up now and back down at the end. A lift only removes the charge if it is about 1.2 metres deep, because the piano travels standing on its end.
