Sevenoaks sits on a ridge and makes no secret of it. The town drops a genuine hill from the centre down to the station at Tubs Hill, and plenty of the Victorian and Edwardian villas on the slopes have front gardens that arrive by steps. Behind the fronts the houses are generous, this is good piano housing, it just comes with gradient. The villages below the ridge, Otford, Shoreham, Kemsing, sit flatter in the Darent valley.
That fixed Wednesday is the whole reason this costs £10 a week rather than £30. We are not making a special trip to Sevenoaks, we are already there, so you get the van at route cost instead of one-off cost. Pick whichever Wednesday suits you when you book.
Riverhead, Otford, Shoreham, Kemsing, Borough Green and Wrotham are TN13 to TN15, one Wednesday run, one price with Sevenoaks.
Count your front steps, that is the Sevenoaks question, and if you are on one of the steeper roads off The Drive or Mount Harry Road, mention the slope so we park thoughtfully. House interiors are rarely the problem here. Riverhead and the newer closes deliver at the plain price, and the TN15 villages out towards Borough Green are standard Kentish mix, cottages and family houses in equal measure.
Stairs are £99 per floor, and that covers carrying it up now and back down at the end. A lift only removes the charge if it is about 1.2 metres deep, because the piano travels standing on its end.
