Saffron Walden is the best-preserved medieval wool town in Essex, and Bridge Street and Castle Street are lined with timber-framed houses, some pargeted, many listed, nearly all of them with doorways that make a piano crew slow down and think. The rest of the town thinks differently: Victorian and Edwardian streets off Debden Road and modern estates that deliver like anywhere else.
That fixed Tuesday is the whole reason this costs £10 a week rather than £30. We are not making a special trip to Saffron Walden, we are already there, so you get the van at route cost instead of one-off cost. Pick whichever Tuesday suits you when you book.

In the old streets the honest answer is that every house is its own puzzle, low lintels, beams in the hall, a step down into the front room, and we genuinely do not mind, it is the most interesting work we get. Give us two sentences about your house in the notes. On the newer streets the plain price is the norm. Audley End estate cottages are compact but consistent, and we know the pattern.
Stairs are £99 per floor, and that covers carrying it up now and back down at the end. A lift only removes the charge if it is about 1.2 metres deep, because the piano travels standing on its end.
