Marlborough's High Street is one of the widest in England, with the Town Hall closing the view at the top, and the width is useful as well as handsome, the van always has somewhere to stand. The fronts along it are Georgian over older bones, and the lanes behind, Kingsbury Street and the back rows, climb enough to notice. Beyond the centre the town is modern estates and college buildings.
That fixed Saturday is the whole reason this costs £10 a week rather than £30. We are not making a special trip to Marlborough, we are already there, so you get the van at route cost instead of one-off cost. Pick whichever Saturday suits you when you book.
Ramsbury, Aldbourne and Great Bedwyn are all SN8 and all covered on the same Saturday as Marlborough at the same price.
High Street and back-lane houses carry the old-town questions: a step at the door, a hall that turns early, sometimes a surprisingly grand staircase that makes the job easy. Kingsbury Street's slope is gentle but real. The newer streets off the Salisbury Road are plain-price work. SN8's villages are proper downland places, Ramsbury, Aldbourne, Great Bedwyn, cottages and farmhouses where a sentence about the approach helps.
Stairs are £99 per floor, and that covers carrying it up now and back down at the end. A lift only removes the charge if it is about 1.2 metres deep, because the piano travels standing on its end.
