Haywards Heath is a railway town, built outward from the line in rings of Victorian, inter-war and post-war streets, with Franklands Village adding its own 1930s garden-village character. It is mostly level, mostly semis and family houses, and mostly easy. Lindfield next door is the showpiece, a long village street running down to the pond, with cottages whose doorways have more history than width.
That fixed Wednesday is the whole reason this costs £10 a week rather than £30. We are not making a special trip to Haywards Heath, we are already there, so you get the van at route cost instead of one-off cost. Pick whichever Wednesday suits you when you book.
Lindfield is RH16 with the town, and Cuckfield, Ardingly and Balcombe are RH17, all one Wednesday run at one price.
Around the station and Boltro Road the Victorian terraces are pavement-fronted with permit parking, a quick note about where the van can stand helps. The wider town is plain-price routine. Lindfield's older cottages get the usual old-house questions, doorway, step, stair turn, and the RH17 villages, Cuckfield, Ardingly, Balcombe, are the same mix of ancient and modern that keeps the job interesting.
Stairs are £99 per floor, and that covers carrying it up now and back down at the end. A lift only removes the charge if it is about 1.2 metres deep, because the piano travels standing on its end.
