Harpenden is one of the easier towns in the country to put a piano into. The housing is mostly generous Victorian and Edwardian family villas and large inter-war semis, which means wide hallways, front doors that take an upright without argument, and a ground-floor room with a spare wall in it.
That fixed Wednesday is the whole reason this costs £10 a week rather than £30. We are not making a special trip to Harpenden, we are already there, so you get the van at route cost instead of one-off cost. Pick whichever Wednesday suits you when you book.
Batford, Southdown and Kinsbourne Green are all on the same Wednesday run at the same price.
Nine out of ten Harpenden deliveries are straightforward ground floor, so £159 is what most people here pay. The exceptions are the flats and converted maisonettes around the station and along Station Road, where you are usually looking at one flight and the £99 stair charge. Worth checking before you book: a fair few of the big Edwardian houses have a step or two up from the pavement to the front path, which is not a stair charge, but do mention it so we bring the right board.
Stairs are £99 per floor, and that covers carrying it up now and back down at the end. A lift only removes the charge if it is about 1.2 metres deep, because the piano travels standing on its end.
