Guildford is the hilliest town in Surrey and the gradients are the story of every delivery. The setted High Street drops hard towards the Wey, Pewley Hill and the Mount climb harder, and the Charlotteville terraces stack up the slope in steps. Flatter Guildford exists too: Onslow Village's garden-suburb streets, Merrow and Burpham's family semis, and the riverside developments along Walnut Tree Close.
That fixed Wednesday is the whole reason this costs £10 a week rather than £30. We are not making a special trip to Guildford, we are already there, so you get the van at route cost instead of one-off cost. Pick whichever Wednesday suits you when you book.
GU1 to GU4 takes in Merrow, Burpham, Onslow Village, Shalford, Worplesdon and Normandy, all one Wednesday run, all one price.
If your street tilts, tell us, and if your path has steps cut into the slope, count them for the notes. That is the Guildford-specific part. The houses themselves are mostly generous, Edwardian villas and good semis with workable halls. Charlotteville and the terraces off Stoke Road are tighter and pavement-fronted, still routine with warning. Student lets around the university usually mean a ground-floor room and an easy job.
Stairs are £99 per floor, and that covers carrying it up now and back down at the end. A lift only removes the charge if it is about 1.2 metres deep, because the piano travels standing on its end.
