The Sefton coast between Waterloo and Formby is quietly one of the most piano-friendly stretches in the North West. Blundellsands has big Victorian villas built for Liverpool merchants, Crosby and Great Crosby mix solid semis with cottage terraces, and Formby out to Freshfield is detached avenues under the pines. Generous hallways and ground-floor music rooms are the rule rather than the exception.
That fixed Tuesday is the whole reason this costs £10 a week rather than £30. We are not making a special trip to Formby and Crosby, we are already there, so you get the van at route cost instead of one-off cost. Pick whichever Tuesday suits you when you book.
Waterloo, Blundellsands, Brighton-le-Sands, Hightown, Freshfield and the Altcars are all on the same Tuesday run at the same price as Crosby and Formby.
Most deliveries here are the plain price: a drive, a level walk, a wide Edwardian or inter-war door. The Blundellsands villas often have a step or two up to a porch, worth counting for the notes. Waterloo's terraces near the beach are tighter and pavement-fronted, routine with the slim trolley and a line about parking. Formby's gravel drives are the one local hazard, gravel being the piano trolley's natural enemy, so mention a long one and we bring boards.
Stairs are £99 per floor, and that covers carrying it up now and back down at the end. A lift only removes the charge if it is about 1.2 metres deep, because the piano travels standing on its end.
