Bury St Edmunds keeps its Georgian grid around the Abbey gardens, and streets like Guildhall Street and Churchgate Street are terraces of listed fronts opening straight onto the pavement, handsome, flat and workable with a little planning. The Victorian streets outside the grid are classic piano terraces, and Moreton Hall is the modern half of town, built level and wide-doored on the eastern side.
That fixed Tuesday is the whole reason this costs £10 a week rather than £30. We are not making a special trip to Bury St Edmunds, we are already there, so you get the van at route cost instead of one-off cost. Pick whichever Tuesday suits you when you book.
Moreton Hall is IP32 with the town centre's IP33, and Westley and Horringer ride the same Tuesday run at the same price.
In the grid the two facts that matter are the doorway, some are glorious and some are genuinely narrow, and the parking plan, several centre streets are restricted so we agree the stop in advance. Victorian terrace work is routine with a permit note. Moreton Hall and the newer closes are plain-price almost every time. Horringer and Westley are estate-village cottages with the usual gentle quirks.
Stairs are £99 per floor, and that covers carrying it up now and back down at the end. A lift only removes the charge if it is about 1.2 metres deep, because the piano travels standing on its end.
